The employee of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, who wanted to offer internal data to Islamists, had also planed to reveal the identity of the agency's informers.

Roque M., 51, offered to tell his fellow Muslims in an internet chatroom who are traitors amongst them, reports the Spiegel. The prosecution office of Duesseldorf is now conducting an investigation against Roque M., who apparently was also preparing to attack the office.

After his arrest, the investigators have no knowledge of any extremist network working within the intelligence agency. There are currently no hints suggesting such a thing.

No psychological or psychiatric evaluation has yet been conducted on the suspect. He is being accused of infiltrating the agency in order to warn Islamists against police operations and to facilitate an attack on the office.

During interrogation, the man claimed to be "part of an operation". "You got me, but the plan continues", he told the police according to the report published by the Sueddeutsche Zeitung, NDR, and WDR.

When asked whether the Islamic State (IS) is involved, he replied "I won't comment on that. Think whatever you want." The intelligence agency explained that with "operation" he might be referring to the general Dschihad.

The investigators doubt the man was in contact with Islamists or terrorists. "Probably people in Syria are wondering who this man is", they added.

The man was a member of the Green party

Even though he confessed, he mentioned no accomplices. He justified this by saying that betrayal is an attribut of unbelievers. He said, however, that he knows who Abu Walaa is. It isn't clear whether the two of them were in contact or not. Abu Walaa is thought to be the most important supported of the ISIS in Germany and lived near the agency quarters until his arrest.

A speaker of the Green party in Northrhein-Westphalia confirmed that the man is a former member of the party. He cancelled his membership eight years ago, apparently long before his radicalization. The investigators also confirmed the rumors that the man had worked as a pornographic actor in the past.

The man was hired in April 2016 and given the task of observing the Islamic scene. He confessed to have given office secrets on the internet using a different name. He was discovered by another spy in an internet chatroom. It was the first case in which an Islamic double agent has been discovered in the agency.
