Hopefully we won't be too long before we have the full blown United States of Europe.
It's inevitable that we will have a one world government at some point. Over the years, the odd country like Britain, will take a short step back, but eventually we're all going to recognise that the challenges which lay ahead are EARTH problems. IE, Climate Change, Artificial Intelligence/Robotics, Confirmation of Extraterrestrials... as well as the less zany problems of solving tax cheats, eradicating poverty, etc."-
