Un paio di settimane fa mi è arrivato un messaggio privato in Reddit, in cui un utente mi ha linkato un thread di Talkclassical dicendomi: "Credo che parlino di te".

Poiché il thread era nella sezione "Area 52" del forum, non potevo aprirlo, quindi ho creato un account per poterlo leggere.
Per questo motivo, non potrò nemmeno linkare il thread qui: dovrò copiarvelo dopo la linea tratteggiata.

As many of you know, it has always been policy of Talk Classical not to share the reasons for banning members - we have always seen this as a matter between said member and the moderating team. We are now making a one time exception, since the former member "Hans Zimmer" has returned about a dozen times after his ban under different names, often sharing his view of what happened. Of course he left out some important issues, and wrongly pointed fingers at certain other members, who did not play a role at all. Here is the story.

Ever since he joined Talk Classical, "Hans Zimmer" has been causing problems with respect to the Talk Classical rules. He received three correcting PM's for insulting language (2x) and politics. He received warnings/infractions for repeated thread hijacking, trolling, political posts (twice), inappropriate language and insults, and disregarding moderator instructions. This resulted in temporary bans, the latest one ending in May 2023.

In spite of these infractions and bans, he continued to cause problems, which we summarized for him in a PM:


> You came back from a six weeks temporary ban about a week ago. Normally we would expect members that have faced such a lengthy ban to be extra careful and make sure their posts are not causing any ruffled feathers.

> Almost immediately after your return, you post a video of a young boy in a thread about artists you find physically attractive. We deleted the post and informed you why.

> Yesterday, you ignored my request to discontinue the hijack about Alma Deutscher in the thread "You can only save one or the other" - a hijack you started by the way. You posted another long post about Alma Deutscher immediately after my request. You did post "Sorry, I was writing my post here above while you inserted this one." in your next post, but you did NOT edit your post to remove all of this continued hijack - I had to.

> Yesterday, you started a thread "Are there prepubescent boys who compose great classical music like Alma Deutscher?". Prepubescent is a term that focuses on sexual development rather than simple age. This is basically the same issue as the post we deleted one week ago. It is inappropriate (to say the least) to focus on sexual aspects of children in your posts, whether you meant it that way or not. We decided to delete the thread.

The first and third issue are relevant as we will see later. They reek of pedophile intentions, but we decided at the time to give him the benefit of the doubt.

After this, there came an episode in the thread "What's your sex and age?", in which he posted

That made us wonder what he was referring to, and really, what else could it be?

Later in the thread he referred a number of times to an unmoderated Italian forum known as "forumdeitroll", of which he is an admin with the user ID Mattia. Looking for more details, we came across a post there by Mattia in a thread about child pornography:

which translates as "I will always remember that summer because it was the time when I realized I liked children, thanks to baby Anakyn from Star Wars."

With this in mind, his Talk Classical posts about young children became completely unacceptable.

We discussed the situation with the site owners, and they fully agreed that "Hans Zimmer" should be banned based on this (in fact, they also said he should have received a permanent ban earlier given his history even before this happened).
