"In Baurmann's study, cases in which compulsion or the exploitation of relationships of dependency played no role whatsoever, and cases in which the children themselves wanted the sexual acts with the teenagers or adults (were conservatively estimated as having) constituted more than half of all of the accusations falling under § 176 StGB [homosexual acts] which he examined. Here, harm to victims occurred only "quite rarely." Specifically concerning the boys who became victims (all under 13 years old), Baurmann was able to discern only consensual or "relatively harmless sexual contacts"; in none of the cases did he find evidence of primary harm [that is, harm caused by the sex itself]. When actual victimization does occur here, it does so only secondarily, via over-dramatization, police actions, prosecution, and conviction."

Viene detto che del totale dei casi da lui studiati, circa il 50% erano atti sessuali in cui il bambino era consenziente e partecipe. Il consenso, viene detto, è ancora più frequente da parte dei bambini di sesso maschile.
In nessuno di questi casi Baurmann è riuscito a trovare traumi causati dagli atti sessuali, e qualora si potessero riscontrare traumi nel bambino, questi erano dovuti alla drammatizzazione delle persone che stavano intorno al bambino (genitori, polizia, ecc....) , le quali lo avevano convinto di essere stato vittima di qualcosa di orribile.
