Sweden is to prosecute the 21-year-old student who single-handedly grounded an aircraft preparing to deport an Afghan asylum seeker.

Elin Ersson broadcast her one-woman protest on Facebook in July, during which she refused to sit down on the flight from Landvetter airport in Gothenburg, thereby preventing it from taking off. The video has been watched 13m times.

Several other passengers, including an entire football team, joined her protest and an asylum seeker was removed from the plane—to applause from passengers.

On Friday, Swedish prosecutors announced that Ersson would be prosecuted at Gothenburg district court “for crimes against the aviation law” after the incident on 23 July. She had not complied with the captain’s request and had refused to sit despite repeated requests from the crew, prosecutors said. She faces a fine and up to six months in jail.

Onboard the plane, Ersson carried a photograph of the young Afghan whose deportation she and other asylum activists were seeking to prevent. However, after searching the flight she found he was not on board. She decided to continue her protest to prevent the deportation of another Afghan on the flight, who it emerged had a criminal record.

Da notare che la pazza non era su quell'aereo per caso, c'era andata di proposito per impedire la deportazione del criminale afgano. In realtà lei cercava un diverso afgano, non trovandolo ha deciso di sceglierne uno a caso ignorando il motivo per cui lo stavano deportando.

BTW, una cosa simile è successa qualche giorno fa quando dei passeggeri piagnucolanti hanno impedito la deportazione di un somalo che è poi risultato essere deportato perché stupratore.

Yaqub Ahmed, 29, was on a Turkish Airlines flight from Heathrow to Turkey and being booted out of the country when passengers demanded officials halt his deportation before take-off.

One passenger shouts: “They’re separating him from his family.”

Others yell “take him off the plane”, “take him out” and “he is going to die”, with passengers unaware of Ahmed’s violent past.

Exasperated security officials eventually gave up after they were unable to calm passengers down.

But it has emerged Ahmed and three others were convicted after attacking a 16-year-old girl in August, 2007.

Another member of the gang, Ondogo Ahmed, is reported to have later travelled to Syria to fight for Islamic State where he is believed to have been killed.

In a video taken inside the plane, Ahmed is heard screaming and complained he was being separated from his family.

Ahmed, from north London, was led off the plane in handcuffs and nodded his thanks to passengers who had backed him to loud applause from some.

Ahmed’s victim was lured back to a flat and gang-raped by three of the men after being separated from friends during a night out in London’s west end in 2007.
