Boeing 737 if intelligence is determined by how many years spent and how much debt was racked into indoctrination camps, we as a society, may as well secede. I have 18 credits to my name. No student debt and make more money than most post grads. Too bad indoctrination camps don’t teach common sense huh

@J EMO THOMASCUOUS So are you saying that studying science is indoctrination? Do you know the difference between religion and science? Religion is indoctrination, science is learning.
So, first of all we have to describe university with the correct sentence: a place where you learn complex things that people outside will probably never learn.
Not only in university you have to understand many complex things in short time, but you need to be good in problem solving: finding solutions to complex problems quickly.
If you pass exams in university, you have one simple credit: you are good in logical reasoning and you are able to understand complex things.
Not all credits require to be good in logical reasoning. If, for example, your credit is that you are very good in cooking, for sure you have a useful ability, but what does intelligence and logic have to do with this?
You can make money with things that don't require logic at all.
So, what's you point?
Once you understand that a person who doesn't have a college degree is not necessarily stupid but people with a college degree are for sure smart (because people who are completely idiot will never succeed in university), you have to ask yourself why in a group of smart people there are so many liberals, more than in other parts of the population.
I think that the reply to this question is that people who are intelligent tend to have an opend mind, because intelligence means "breaking the schemes".
Conservativism is for people with a close mind, that are not able to understand and tolerate nothing except themselves (their own sexuality, their own race, their own gender) and millenary traditions that are sometimes silly, but which conservatives defend only because they are what they have learnt since childhood and they are not able to imagine a different world.
So, smart people tend to have a political orientation towards individual freedom because they are not afraid of people that break the schemes (as for example homosexuals and other people that are not included in millenary traditions). They are able to break the schemes, and so they elaborate new societies (progressivism) that can be very different from classical traditions.
Furthermore, they understand that the individual well-being is strictly related with collective well-being, because if people in general are fine they will have less reasons for killing and stealing.
They understand that if all the people in the population pay a fixed tax for a public healthcare, then all people of the population who will have a heart disease will be able to get the health care they need.
A coronary artery bypass surgery costs 40'000$. Many people (if not most) have not this money in their bank account.
Smart people want a state which works like an insurance because they have the logic to understand how an insurance works and what are the benefits.
Conservative only want to preserve traditions, including bad traditions that are against their well-being.
